- Stay with your passengers safely on the hard shoulder or verge of the road, as far as possible from the traffic.
- Contact your assistance: you will find the number in your vehicle’s maintenance booklet for vehicles still under the manufacturer’s warranty, on your insurance policy or in your ‘Ma Garantie Opteven’ mobile application if you have an Opteven insurance policy.
And what about if I break down on the motorway?
The same thing as if you break down elsewhere, but you must take even more precautions because the speed of the traffic makes the situation even more dangerous and makes roadside assistance even more difficult stop in the emergency lane, taking care making sure you keep out of the traffic lanes

- Once breakdown assistance has been notified, wait for the breakdown teams behind the safety barrier.
Remember: there is no need to use the red triangle when you have pulled over on the hard shoulder, so don’t take any unnecessary risks!
Important: Repair on the motorway is technical and dangerous and can only be performed by authorised personnel who will tow you to a garage: it is therefore essential to notify the motorway security services.
