Opteven began its history in France under the name of RAC France, a subsidiary of RAC plc (the former Royal Automobile Club). Its role then was to accompany and assist RAC members with the management of their claims during their holidays on the European continent.
RAC France became a subsidiary of the AVIVA group in 2005 and then went independent in 2009 with a change of ownership. Since then, its shareholders have been made up of investment funds (Finadvance in 2010, Capzanine in 2014), Aviva France, and company staff.
RAC France changed its name in 2011 and became Opteven.
By continuing or deepening its partnerships with RAC and AVIVA France in the field of roadside assistance, Opteven remains closely linked to its former majority shareholders. Beyond the existing partnerships, Opteven has been able to build a broad network of business partners, thus asserting itself as a serious player in the automotive industry.
In 2015, Opteven started to expand its international activity. After the UK, Italy was added in 2016 and Spain in 2018, each with its own branches in Milan and Madrid. Germany followed in 2020, also with its own branch in the heart of Berlin’s City-West at Zoologischer Garten.
Opteven benefits from 100 years of history in roadside assistance and motoring services.
